Honda dramatically updated the 2019 Accord for a dynamic market with high expectations in comfort, technology and performance. Available in six editions, this mid-size sedan has plenty of best-in-class standard features. Having a similar body, the 2019 Toyota Camry also offers lots of premium amenities. When it comes to interior space and convenience, the Accord has the clear upper hand over the Camry. Offering four transmission systems, this Honda is also easier to handle.
Interior Comfort
Three of the 2019 Accord models have a maximum passenger volume of 105.6 cubic feet. Some of the trims have a passenger volume of 102.7 cubic feet. The 2019 Toyota Camry has 99.3 or 100.4 cubic feet of interior space for passengers. When the rear seats are up, this model offers up to 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space. The redesigned Accord beats this figure by 1.6 cubic feet. This Honda also has more legroom, headroom and hip room than the Camry. Four of the Accord models have a 12-way driver's seat with a memory system for two positions. The Camry's best driver's seat has only eight positions without a memory function. Both sedans are available with heated front seats, and the Accord Touring also comes standard with ventilated front seats.
Handling
You can select 10 gear speeds from the 2019 Accord's automatic transmission system. A shift-by-wire system makes the gearbox more responsive compared to previous years. You only have access to eight gear ratios in the 2019 Toyota Camry's Direct Shift automatic transmission. However, the Sequential Shift Mode provides extra options for this signature transmission. Both sedans offer an electronic continuously variable transmission that's optimized to work well with hybrid technology. The Deceleration Selectors improve the efficiency of the Accord's E-CVT, which also has the Sport Mode for dynamic driving. If you want the hands-on experience of a clutch, choose a six-speed manual transmission for this versatile Honda. Toyota wasn't interested in adding a manual option to the Camry's lineup. Additionally, the Accord has a traditional CVT that's available with paddle shifters. Both cars have the Traction Control for slip-free handling on wet roads. Honda's Vehicle Stability Assist is also comparable to Toyota's Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control.
Amenities
Every 2019 Accord model has dual zones in the automatic climate control system. Some of the lower-level 2019 Toyota Camry trims only have a single zone in the automatic climate control. You'll need to purchase an optional package to enjoy two zones in the HVAC system of the Camry. The Accord also comes standard with auto-locking doors that can be programmed according to your entry and exit habits. Working with an electronic key, the Smart Entry is another best-in-class feature that's installed in most trims. A push-button start system for the ignition is also standard in this well-appointed Honda sedan. Unfortunately, such a convenient feature isn't available in every 2019 Camry trim.
