Part of the subcompact crossover SUV class, the 2018 Honda HR-V comes in three trims. The 2018 Nissan Rogue is a mid-size crossover SUV that offers four editions. The Real Time All-Wheel Drive and i-VTEC engine make this Honda more versatile and efficient under normal driving conditions. Performance
Just like its predecessors, the 2018 Honda HR-V runs on the i-VTEC engine block. Efficient and compact, this four-cylinder engine is mated to the signature ECO Assist System. You can easily activate the ECON Mode with the touch of a button in the dashboard. If you need some advice from a virtual guide, take advantage of the Eco Coaching technology. Although the Nissan Rogue has the Eco/Sport Mode, the ECO Assist offers better overall guidance with a heavy focus on efficiency. When equipped with the Real Time AWD, the HR-V is likely to stay on course, even in tough conditions. Traction is optimized by the Intelligent Control System that analyzes numerous mechanical parameters. Both crossover SUVs come standard with the Hill Start Assist that provides instant leverage on steep roads. Offering the Sport Mode, the HR-V's continuously variable transmission (CVT) is just as versatile as the Rogue's Xtronic CVT. A six-speed manual transmission is also available in this Honda.
Fuel Economy
When equipped with a CVT and 2WD, the 2018 Honda HR-V has a highway fuel economy of up to 34 MPG. This powertrain configuration has a city fuel economy of 28 MPG. The 2018 Nissan Rogue is rated at 33 MPG on the highway and 26 MPG in the city.* These ratings slightly drop in the trims that roll on an AWD. Having a fuel tank capacity for 13.2 gallons, the HR-V is remarkably lightweight and agile. Honda's engineers did a superb job in minimizing any excessive installations within the body. The 14.5-gallon fuel tank makes the Rogue a bit more bulky. Both of these crossover SUVs should be filled with regular unleaded gasoline.
Value
The starting MSRP for the 2018 HR-V LX is $19,670**. This base trim comes standard with a rear window defroster, rear heating ducts, LED interior lights and other great amenities. You need to spend nearly $25,000 just to get the keys to the 2018 Rogue S base edition. To upgrade to the HR-V EX, you have to dish out only $21,720**. This mid-level trim offers the LaneWatch, push button start, heated front seats and other premium features. Having a starting price of $25,140**, the HR-V EX-L Navi delivers tremendous value in digital technology, styling and comfort. A satellite-linked navigation system with real-time traffic feeds is standard in this well-appointed trim. You also get access to music on SiriusXM, Pandora and HD Radio in the EX-L Navi. To enjoy comparable amenities in the Rogue, you'll have to spend over $31,000 for the SL edition.
