Five models make up the lineup of the 2018 Honda Pilot crossover SUV. Having a slightly smaller body, the 2018 Honda CR-V comes in four editions. Both of these family-friendly vehicles offer engines with the i-VTEC technology and advanced all-wheel drive (AWD) systems. Each model also has the latest accident-prevention features that are powered by the Honda Sensing technology.
Performance
Honda designed a single V6 engine for the 2018 Pilot. The 3.5 L engine whips out 280 horsepower when running at 6,000 RPM. Up to 262 lb-ft of torque is generated by the i-VTEC powertrain at 4,700 RPM. Also based on the i-VTEC platform, the CR-V's 2.4 L engine has a rating of 184 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. A 1.5 L turbo engine propels the CR-V EX and above trims. Having its own wastegate with a single scroll, the engine generates 190 hp and approximately 180 lb-ft of torque.
The Eco Assist technology is compatible with the i-VTEC and turbo powertrain. Both Honda crossover SUVs also have the Active Noise Cancellation that reduces sounds from combustion and other mechanical movements under the hood. Each Pilot rolls on an AWD system that's controlled by the Intelligent Variable Torque Management. The 4WD system in the CR-V comes with the Intelligent Control technology. Some other features that improve off-road performance in these vehicles include the Hill Start Assist and Vehicle Stability Assist.
Interior
The front seats in the 2018 Pilot and CR-V have heating with multiple settings. Heated captain's chairs and heating ducts are installed in the Pilot's second row. This premium model also offers perforated front seats with several ventilation modes. Standard in the EX and above editions, the tri-zone automatic climate control responds to the slightest changes in interior temperatures. This sophisticated climate control unit includes sensors that monitor humidity levels inside the cabin. Integrated into the windshields in the second row, sunshades prevent excessive heating on warm days. When it comes to ergonomics, both Honda crossover SUVs offer lumbar supports for the driver. You can also adjust the driver's seat to one of two preferred positions that are stored in a memory system. Illuminated beverage holders and blue ambient LED lights are some other convenient amenities that are installed in select Pilot trims.
Safety
Available in the 2018 Pilot and CR-V, the Collision Mitigation Braking takes assertive action when an accident seems imminent. Both Honda vehicles have the Forward Collision Warning that analyzes real-time risk levels. The Road Departure Mitigation prevents these crossover SUVs from running off course. Additionally, the Lane Departure Warning improves your awareness of adjacent lanes. Some other driving aides that are available in the Pilot and CR-V include the Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keeping Assist and Cross Traffic Monitor. These vehicles also have front headlamps that automatically manage the high beams.
