It's hard to imagine an underpowered compact hatchback as a sports car, but that's exactly what the Honda Fit is. Yes, it has a tiny engine, Yes, it's built to the normal compact specifications on a compact platform. However, it has performance dynamics that set it apart from every other model in its segment. Fun to drive and with plenty of standard features, this vehicle will pleasantly surprise you from the moment you put it in gear.
The 2018 Honda fit gets a few styling upgrades, particularly on the exterior. The new bumper covers have black trim, and there's now a bit of chrome on the front grille. The Sport trim now comes with foglights, a small front spoiler, and a rocker trim. Whichever version of this hatchback you choose, however, you'll be pleased no end with the ability of this affordable offering from Honda.
Performance
The Honda Fit comes with a 1.5L engine producing 130 horsepower. You get to choose between a CVT and six-speed manual transmission. If you choose the automatic, you can even add paddle shifters. Steering is very responsive, and the power over 3.000 rpm is impressive. Body roll is also well-controlled. All in all, the 2018 Fit is indeed a sporty hatchback, and you'll feel in complete control as you drive along winding roads.
Interior
Honda has made a few design changes to the interior of the 2018 Fit. The dash contours are a bit more relaxed, the window glass is thicker and cuts down the road noise better than previous year models, and the display screen now has a conventional knob for easier management of the audio. The 60/40 split Magic Seat folds flat with ease, and there's plenty of cargo space with the rear seat folded. Standard features on the base LX trim include air conditioning, full power accessories, and cruise control. The 5-inch color screen is easy to read, and Bluetooth is included. The uplevel trims add on upgraded upholstery, a 7-inch screen display, the Radio Data system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. SiriusXM radio is included on the EX and EX-L versions.
Safety
You'll feel safe and secure inside the 2018 Honda Fit thanks to the Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control, electronic brake force distribution, multi-angle rearview camera, and full set of airbags. The driver awareness package options include forward collision warning, lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking system, and road departure mitigation. Front and front-side airbags protect the driver and front passenger, and the side-curtain airbags have an advanced rollover sensor. All seats have 3-point seat belts, and the front seats have automatic belt tensioning.
