Having SOHC parts in the valvetrain, this engine operates on the i-VTEC technology. Installed only in the CR-V LX, the 2.4 L i-VTEC engine is rated at 184 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. However, both engines in the CR-V utilize DOHC components in the valvetrain. The Eco Assist function enhances the fuel efficiency of this crossover SUV. In the HR-V, the Eco Assist has the Eco Coaching feature that helps you develop economical driving habits. Additionally, you may press the ECON Button to optimize fuel economy.
Handling
The all-wheel drive in the 2018 Honda CR-V and HR-V is managed by the Intelligent Control System. Snow, mud, rocks and sand won't hinder the performance of this signature AWD that can vary torque distribution based on weather and terrain conditions. The gradient-climbing capabilities of both Honda vehicles are boosted by the Hill Start Assist. This function extends the hold on the brakes as you shift from parking mode into drive. The Vehicle Stability Assist also contributes to reliable handling on sloped or curved roads. Slippery conditions will likely make the Traction Control come on. Engineered to decrease the stopping distance, the Brake Assist and anti-locking brake system (ABS) are standard in both Honda crossover SUVs.
Safety
Developed to prevent accidents, the Honda Sensing technology keeps the 2018 CR-V safe on the road. Using a camera and radar sensors to scan the road ahead, the Forward Collision Warning detects the slightest risk of a front crash. If an accident seems unavoidable, the Collision Mitigation Braking will engage the brakes. The Lane Departure Warning detects unintentional drift into another lane. If the CR-V goes off track, the Road Departure Mitigation System will partially override the braking and steering. You could also rely on the Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Keeping Assist to avoid side collisions. Additionally, the Adaptive Cruise Control can manage the CR-V for extended drives. The frames of the CR-V and HR-V are made from the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) structure that can withstand severe impacts.
