Are you shopping for the 2022 Honda Passport, but you’re not sure how it compares to the 2022 Ford Edge? Both midsize SUVs are excellent choices when you want to challenge streets like Lee Highway. However, the Passport offers a little more than the Edge, and this Honda of Chantilly review explains why.

Safety Features

When comparing the core versions of the 2022 Passport and 2022 Edge, we noticed that the Passport has more standard safety components. Lane Keeping Assist¹ and Blind Spot Information Systems², for example, are standard in both rides. But, Lane Departure Warning³ isn’t elaborated upon in the Ford Edge. Plus, the Honda Passport has automatic high-beam technology, which is an element of this SUV that dims the LED lamps when an oncoming vehicle is approaching on the opposite side of the road. Adaptive Cruise Control⁴ is standard in all Passport iterations. But it’s only available in higher trim levels for the 2022 Ford Edge. The Honda Passport is a more cost-effective option and a viable candidate when you want to traverse congested traffic along Jermantown Road.

Connectivity & Technology

When it comes to innovation, the 2022 Honda Passport has an advantage over the Ford Edge. Although the Edge has a 12-inch touchscreen for infotainment and navigation, it lacks features like Apple CarPlay®⁵ and Android Auto™⁶. These elements allow you to use your smartphone apps on an automobile’s operating system. If audio quality and comfort are important to you, then you may want to lean toward the Passport. Honda’s core variation of this vehicle, the EX-L, has standard heated front seats and seven speakers, whereas the Edge SE doesn’t have a heating unit in the front chairs and six speakers. In addition, the Honda Passport has standard wireless phone chargers⁷ in all its trim levels, but this feature is only available for some of the higher variations of the Ford Edge. 

Performance

The standard powertrain for the 2022 Passport is a 3.5L V6 engine that generates 280 horsepower⁸ and 262 lb.-ft. of torque⁹, but the standard system for the 2022 Edge is a Twin-Scroll 2.0L 4-cylinder EcoBoost® block that kicks out 250 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque. The Ford Edge is also equipped with standard AWD, while the Passport has a standard FWD system, but AWD is available. Additionally, you’ll get various driving modes for the Honda Passport. Ford’s two-row midsize SUV also has these attributes, making both automobiles dependable during unexpected conditions on roads like Fairfax Boulevard. But the Honda Passport carries a 9-speed automatic system, while the Ford Edge has an 8-speed automatic transmission.
