2022 Honda Passport vs 2022 Chevrolet Blazer near Fairfax, VA
Pictured above is the 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport with AWD shown in Radiant Red Metallic II with Honda Genuine Accessories.
If you’re the type of person who is always looking for their next adventure, it would only make sense if you want to make a midsize SUV your next set of wheels. At Honda of Chantilly, we’ve got a model in this class that is certainly worthy of your time and attention—the 2022 Honda Passport. Before visiting our location to check it out in person, see how it compares to the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer.
Performance
Let’s kick things off by discussing the performance capabilities of these SUVs. The Passport gets things off on the right foot, coming standard with a 3.5L V6 engine that can generate 280 horsepower1 and 262 lb.-ft. of torque2 when you’re on the go. Unfortunately for fans of the Chevrolet, they’ll have to settle for a standard 2.0L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that cranks out 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. If you plan on hauling a boat or camper, you’ll get a bit more muscle with the Honda since it will let you tap into a 5,000-lb. maximum towing capacity3. On the other side of the fence, you might feel as if the verve is lacking in the Blazer with its 4,500-lb. maximum towing capacity4.
Interior
After a long day of hiking, you’ll want to make sure your drive back home keeps you comfortable. The 2022 Honda Passport brings plenty of amenities to the table in this regard, as it comes standard with a tri-zone automatic climate control system that offers lots of ways to customize the temperature inside the cabin. The Blazer doesn’t offer as much flexibility with its standard dual-zone system. And while the Chevrolet’s standard 8-way power driver’s seat might initially seem impressive, it actually falls short when compared to the Honda’s standard 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat. Moreover, the premium cloth of the Blazer won’t give off the same luxurious vibe as the standard leather-trimmed seats in the Passport. Last but not least, the Honda will accommodate more gear with its 100.8 cubic ft. of storage space5 behind the front row to the Chevrolet’s 64.2 cubic ft. of cargo volume6 for the same area.
Safety
The last area we’d like to explore when it comes to these SUVs is safety. The Honda Passport immediately pulls ahead of its competitor, offering a standard Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Monitor7. This advanced technology will watch to the left and right of your back bumper to warn you when another vehicle gets too close, making merging and reversing into traffic far less stressful. Although you can get a similar technology in the Blazer, you’ll have to pay extra for it. The Passport also stands out with a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera8, which offers several points of view to help get you into tight parking spots. The Rear Vision Camera9 of the Blazer isn’t as impressive since it only gives you one angle.
