2021 Honda Civic vs 2021 Toyota Corolla near Washington, DC

2021 Toyota Corolla

Pictured above is the 2021 Honda Civic Sport in Rallye Red (left) and the 2021 Toyota Corolla with optional features (right).

The battle for the top compact sedan on the market is heating up, and the 2021 Honda Civic is right in the thick of it. For this reason, we at Honda of Chantilly are here to explain how this set of wheels compares to a fellow small car like the 2021 Toyota Corolla! After learning about how the Civic offers superior technology, comfort, and performance, you’ll feel completely confident about visiting us for a test drive.

Power & Economy

Whether you prioritize muscle or efficiency, the 2021 Civic excels with respect to both aspects. Whereas the Toyota Corolla’s standard 1.8L 4-cylinder engine produces just 139-hp and 126 lb.-ft. of torque, the Honda has a standard 2.0L 4-cylinder system that pumps out 158-hp1 and 138 lb.-ft. of torque2. Furthermore, if you’re interested in raising the bar, the Civic is also available with a 1.5L turbocharged powertrain that really gets the good times rolling with a stellar 174-hp1 and 162 lb.-ft. of torque2. Meanwhile, the Corolla once again falls flat with an optional 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that only manages to arm you with 169-hp and 151 lb.-ft. of torque. In fact, the Civic is also more efficient, achieving up to 32/42 MPG city/hwy3 to its competitor’s 30/41 MPG city/hwy4

Cabin Accommodations

When it comes to the amenities at your disposal behind the wheel, the 2021 Honda Civic has little difficulty overcoming the 2021 Toyota Corolla. While the former comes standard with automatic climate control, this feature is only accessible in the latter if you upgrade, which means you’ll be stuck with a manual temperature system if you choose the base trim. Not to mention, whereas the Civic has optional heated rear outboard seats, the model from Toyota lacks these entirely. Even if you’re simply trying to stretch out and unwind during the drive to the Brentwood Recreation Center, you’ll still prefer the Honda, thanks to its 37.4 inches of rear legroom. The Corolla, on the other hand, has a rather cramped 34.8 inches of legroom in the back.

Safety & Tech

The last aspect we’d like to review is technology. When looking at entertainment, the Honda Civic has an edge over the Toyota Corolla, especially if you choose to spring for the available 10-speaker premium sound system. Those who opt for the Corolla might feel a bit underwhelmed, as its top audio setup only has nine speakers. Naturally, we couldn’t forget to discuss safety, as the Civic is once again the superior set of wheels, thanks in part to its standard Road Departure Mitigation System5. By employing the assistance of both corrective braking and steering torque, this innovation is ready to step in when a moment of inattention puts you at risk of leaving the pavement. You won’t find anything similar to this if you take home the Corolla.

Do you agree with Honda of Chantilly and prefer the Civic in this matchup of the 2021 Honda Civic vs 2021 Toyota Corolla near Washington, DC? If so, visit us soon! We’re conveniently located at 4175 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly, VA.
