2021 Honda Civic vs 2021 Hyundai Elantra near Washington, DC

2021 Honda Civic vs 2021 Hyundai Elantra near Washington, DCPictured above is the 2021 Honda Civic Touring in Cosmic Blue Metallic.

If you’ve recently narrowed your search for a new vehicle to just compact sedans, then you’ll definitely want to learn more about the 2021 Honda Civic. Ever since this set of wheels reached the showroom floor at Honda of Chantilly, customers have been visiting us in droves to get a closer look. Given how it bests other options in its class with such ease, this isn’t much of a surprise! Therefore, let’s see how it stacks up against the 2021 Hyundai Elantra.

Safety & Entertainment

If you’re curious to learn what these two vehicles bring to the table with respect to technology, we have you covered. When it comes to safety, the 2021 Civic is more than ready to lend a hand, as it comes standard with the Road Departure Mitigation System1 to keep you on course with automatic steering torque and braking power. Plus, you have the ability to supplement the standard Multi-Angle Rearview Camera2 with dynamic guidelines, so you can more clearly see if the path you’re moving in is free of hazards. If you choose the Hyundai Elantra, you won’t find either of these innovations. In fact, even if opt for a higher trim level, this model still falls short of the Honda. Whereas the Civic can be equipped with up to ten speakers, the Elantra only has eight optional speakers.

Comfort

Next, let’s settle in so we can determine whether the 2021 Honda Civic or 2021 Hyundai Elantra is more comfortable. Those hoping to pamper their guests will likely prefer the former, as select trim levels come with heated rear outboard seats to prevent people from getting chilly during winter drives. Furthermore, you can spring for a 4-way power seat for the front passenger to ensure they can find a suitable position for a relaxing excursion. To compare, the model from Hyundai only has a 4-way manual front passenger seat across the board, while it lacks heated rear seats completely. To make matters worse, the 2021 Elantra’s 14.2 cubic ft. of trunk space3 might force you to leave an item or two behind, while the Civic has you covered with its more accommodating 15.1 cubic ft. of trunk capacity4

Performance

For those who are mostly concerned with what’s under the hood, let’s conclude by examining what powers these two rides. The Honda Civic gets down to business out on Route 50 without hesitation, employing the services of a standard 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder powertrain to churn out 158-hp5 and 138 lb.-ft. of torque6. Meanwhile, though the Hyundai Elantra has a similar 2.0L 4-cylinder system, it doesn’t quite measure up, generating 147-hp and 132 lb.-ft. of torque. Unfortunately, if you choose this sedan, then this is the end of the line as far as engines go. To compare, the Civic is available with a 1.5L turbo powertrain that lets you access an exhilarating 174-hp5 and 162 lb.-ft. of torque6

Honda of Chantilly is certain that after witnessing this matchup of the 2021 Honda Civic vs 2021 Hyundai Elantra near Washington, DC, you’ll prefer the former! For additional details, be sure to contact us at your earliest convenience.

1. Road Departure Mitigation only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use and can apply mild steering torque to assist driver in maintaining proper lane position and/or brake pressure to slow the vehicle's departure from a detected lane. RDM may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

2. Always visually confirm that it is safe to drive before backing up; the rearview camera display does not provide complete information about all conditions and objects at the rear of your vehicle.

3. Cargo and capacity limited by weight and distribution.

4. Carrying too much cargo or improperly storing it can affect the handling, stability and operation of this vehicle. Follow applicable load limits and loading guidelines.
