2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2016 Nissan Frontier in Chantilly, VA

See Which Midsize Truck is Right for You!

When it comes to midsize trucks, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the options on the market. But, if you’re looking for one that is efficient and boasts some remarkable and exciting features, we think you’ll love the 2017 Honda Ridgeline. To prove it, we at Honda of Chantilly have set out to do the research for you, as we have compared the 2017 Honda Ridgeline vs the 2016 Nissan Frontier in Chantilly, VA, so you can see why the Ridgeline is the superior midsize truck.

We started this comparison off with what awaits under the hood of both the 2017 Honda Ridgeline and the 2016 Nissan Frontier. The Ridgeline comes standard with a powerful V6 engine that produces a whopping 280 horsepower1. In comparison, the Frontier doesn’t offer a V6 engine as standard and it only churns out 261 horsepower. The Ridgeline isn’t just more powerful, it’s more efficient. When you choose front-wheel drive, you’ll have a fuel rating of 19/26/22 MPG city/hwy/combined2, while the Frontier only has a rating of 16/22/18 MPG city/hwy/combined3 in rear-wheel drive. Both are offered in AWD, but the Ridgeline is more efficient here, too, with a fuel output of 18/25/21 MPG city/hwy/combined4. Again, the Frontier falls short with an output of 15/21/17 MPG city/hwy/combined3.

Our side-by-side look at the 2017 Honda Ridgeline vs the 2016 Nissan Frontier in Chantilly, VA, compares more than just power and efficiency, as we move on to all the features the Ridgeline has standard that the Frontier does not. For starters, the exterior of the Ridgeline has automatic headlights, which is only on higher trims of the Frontier. There are also LED taillights, which aren’t offered at all on the Frontier. Within the truck bed, not only does the Frontier not come standard with LED bed lights, but it doesn’t have a lockable In-Bed Trunk®. In the Ridgeline, this trunk not only gives you 7.3 cubic ft. of storage space5, but also a drain plug. Even more noteworthy is the Truck Bed Audio System within the Ridgeline, pumping out 540 watts of power from the speakers. No such feature is found within the Frontier, or any other midsize truck on the market.

Moving along to the inside, the 2017 Ridgeline comes standard with push button start, which isn’t offered in any trim level of the Frontier. Additionally, the Ridgeline gives you room for all your gear with standard underseat storage compartments, a convenience only in top trims of the Frontier. In terms of comfort, the Ridgeline has an available Tri-Zone Automatic Climate Control System, while the Frontier only offers a Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control System. And, when you want to kick winter to the curb, the Ridgeline has an available heated steering wheel6, while the Frontier does not offer such warmth.

In terms of technology, you will only find Apple CarPlay™7 and Android Auto™8 available in the Honda Ridgeline for seamless smartphone integration. Similarly, the Ridgeline comes standard with a 5-inch touchscreen which displays the Multi-Angle Rearview Camera9 with three views: normal, top-down, and wide. In the Frontier, you won’t find a standard touchscreen at all, meaning the RearView Monitor10 not only isn’t standard, but will only show you one view.

We at Honda of Chantilly hope that this comparison of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline vs 2016 Nissan Frontier in Chantilly, VA, has helped you decide which midsize truck is right for you. For efficiency and the latest features, check out the Ridgeline here today!
